The Fire type (Japanese: ほのおタイプ Flame type) is one of the eighteen Pokémon types. Fire type Pokémon can generate large amounts of heat and flame from their bodies and are capable of surviving extremely high temperatures without overheating or suffering from heat stroke. They can be found in all sorts of habitat types, but seem to prefer open habitats like grasslands, deserts and open mountainous woodland over dense forest or jungle. Some like Magmar, Slugma and Heatran even live inside of active volcanoes.

Fire A lizard Pokémon based on the mythical fire salamander and the Fire-type First partner Pokémon of the Kanto Region. Charmander are rarely seen in the wild and prefer to live in hot places, such as volcanic mountain caves and lava fields. The fire on its tail burns through ought it's life and acts as an indicator of its health, burning brighter the better cared for it is.

Fire Evolves from Charmander at level 16. With longer arms, better suited to combat and a horned head to deflect blunt force, it has a barbaric and savage nature. They form large packs in the mountains where they live and fight to establish dominance. It's razor-sharp claws and muscular tail are formidable weapons.

FireFlying A dragon Pokémon that evolves from Charmeleon at level 36. With newly developed wings, it flies at altitudes of 4,600 ft, soaring through craggy mountains while searching for prey. Their fire breath is hot enough to melt rock and create cavernous lairs in the sides of high mountain peaks, where they can rest, lay eggs and survey their territory. They are particularly fond of places with recent volcanic or geothermal activity.

Charizard possess an extremely proud and honorable nature and love to test their might against powerful opponents. They won't use the full force of its flame on foes they deem weaker than themselves and will often disobey trainers that don't live up to their standards making them somewhat challenging Pokémon to train.

Charizard is one of the most well-known and iconic Pokémon, only surpassed by series mascot Pikachu. Charizard is playable in Super Smash Bros. since Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Vulpix
Fire A six-tailed fox Pokémon based on a kitsune. When first born, Vulpix has a single, white tail that splits from the tip, gains color and curls as it ages. This Pokémon's lustrous fur and curly tails make it popular and sought after as a pet and the better one's cared for the more beautiful its fur becomes. Inside its belly, a fire that never goes out powers it's fire type attacks and it can freely manipulate balls of fire with the move Will-O-Wisp in order to help it catch prey.

When Vulpix's body becomes too hot, they release excess heat by belching white hot flames into the sky. Because these flames resemble ghostly spirits and because Vulpix are sometimes sighted near graveyards, some people associate Vulpix with the spirits of the dead.

Fire A nine-tailed fox Pokémon that evolves from Vulpix via a Fire Stone. Very intelligent, it can live to be 1,000 years old. A popular legend states that the first Ninetales was born when nine noble saints had their souls joined together and reincarnated as this Pokémon. It is also able to learn Ghost type moves such as Grudge and Confuse Ray.

Fire A puppy Pokémon based on a komainu. Very brave and loyal, Growlithe will bark and bite to defend its trainer or territory from any perceived threats, even standing up to Pokémon many times their size if they must. They possess a powerful olfactory sense lets them read the emotions of other living creatures to determine if they are friend or foe and they never forget a scent they have previously smelled. Often found in grasslands, wild Growlithe must be fierce in order to defend their territory from packs of wild Houndour and Rockruff.

Growlithe and other Dog Pokémon like Herdier and Rockruff are speculated to have been some of the first Pokémon to form close bonds with humans, as skeletons of them have been found in excavations of ancient ruins dating back to the Pokémon World's Stone Age. In Pokémon Red and Blue and Pokémon Gold and Silver, Growlithe is the version exclusive counterpart to Vulpix and only found in the Red/Gold Version.

Fire A fire unicorn Pokémon that evolves from Ponyta at level 40. After evolving, its developed horn becomes a useful weapon, piercing foes with a powerful Horn Drill. Rapidash's flaming mane makes it difficult for people and most predators to approach it, however, if someone manages to gain its trust, it's flames will no longer burn them and Rapidash will let that person ride on their back.

Fire A peculiar kaiju Pokémon with a reptilian body and birdlike beak resembling the fabled Karura. Magmar live in active volcanoes, drinking and bathing in magma to power their flaming bodies. In battle, the heat from this Pokémon's body can create mirages in order to confuse opponents before it closes in with a flaming Fire Punch. Sometimes when enraged, Magmar have been known descend from the mountains to rampage, their flaming breath hot enough to cause wildfires and burn villages to cinders. Because of this, in regions with active volcanoes, humans often leave offerings for the volcano's Magmar in order to keep them calm. Magmar's flames burn hotter than most non-legendary fire type Pokémon, which has long made them popular as companions of blacksmiths and metal workers as a cheaper alternative to a forge.

Fire A fox Pokémon and one of the many possible evolutions of the Pokémon Eevee. It evolves when Eevee is exposed to the energy of a Fire Stone. It uses it's fluffy mane and tail to release excess body heat and prevent itself from overheating. Flareon powers up when hit with a Fire type move due to its ability, Flash Fire.

FireFlying A crane Pokémon based on the mythical phoenix and one of the three Legendary Birds. This rare and powerful Pokémon is a Legendary and as such is seldom seen by humans. It embodies the western winds and the season of spring. As it migrates around the world, it heats up the surrounding atmosphere with every flap of its burning wings, bringing an early spring to regions where it flies. When injured, it heals itself by immersing its body in the lava of a volcano. Like the other Legendary Birds, Moltres is led by the God of the Sea, Lugia, who has to power to command Moltres and quell any fights between the three. Moltres can be found by completing the dungeons, Victory Road in Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow and Mt. Ember in FireRed and LeafGreen.

Fire A fire slug Pokémon with a body made out of magma. It lives underground in the Earth's mantle but is sometimes ejected to the surface by volcanic eruptions and is a common sight near active volcanoes. Slugma are constantly on the move and only sleep if immersed in magma, because if it stops moving its body will cool down and turn to stone, immobilizing it and leaving it easy prey for another Pokémon.

FireRock A Fire snail Pokémon that evolves from Slugma at level 38. Its stone shell is formed from parts of its magma body that have cooled and hardened and often chips off in battle, however Magcargo can regain lost mass by drinking lava. Magcargo's body is so hot that, when it rains, the water droplets turn to steam on contact with its skin and create a dense fog. Normally found in and around active volcanic craters, Magcargo's population sometimes migrate in large numbers into the lowland, if it does this, an eruption is IMMINENT.

DarkFire A dark dog that is Fire/Dark type. Nocturnal hunters, packs of wild Houndour prey upon Pokémon that fail to reach their den before nightfall. They communicate with one another using a complex "language" of howls, barks, growls and roars that lets them function as a team even in pitch darkness. At dusk and dawn the Houndour pack howls in unison to signal the start and end of the hunt.

Fire The baby form of Magmar. With a body temperature of 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit, this timid Pokémon lives in active volcanoes, where it eats and bathes in magma to stay healthy. When it inhales or exhales, glowing embers fly from its mouth and nostrils. One can tell how healthy a Magby is by the color of its flame; if it's yellow Magby is in good health but it it's got black smoke, it's feeling sick. Magby evolves into Magmar at level 30.

Known as pyromancy, Delphox may have taught humans how to perform this technique in ancient times.

In a scientific experiment, placing a Castform in front of a heater did not change its form, only sunlight is currently known to work.
