The Fire type (Japanese: ほのおタイプ Flame type) is one of the eighteen Pokémon types. Fire type Pokémon can generate large amounts of heat and flame from their bodies and are capable of surviving extremely high temperatures without overheating or suffering from heat stroke. They can be found in all sorts of habitat types, but seem to prefer open habitats like grasslands, deserts and open mountainous woodland over dense forest or jungle. Some like Magmar, Slugma and Heatran even live inside of active volcanoes.

Charmander		A lizard Pokémon based on the mythical fire salamander and the Fire-type First partner Pokémon of the Kanto Region. Charmander are rarely seen in the wild and prefer to live in hot places, such as volcanic mountain caves and lava fields. The fire on its tail burns through ought it's life and acts as an indicator of its health, burning brighter the better cared for it is.
Charmeleon		Evolves from Charmander at level 16. With longer arms, better suited to combat and a horned head to deflect blunt force, it has a barbaric and savage nature. They form large packs in the mountains where they live and fight to establish dominance. It's razor-sharp claws and muscular tail are formidable weapons.
Charizard		A dragon Pokémon that evolves from Charmeleon at level 36. With newly developed wings, it flies at altitudes of 4,600 ft, soaring through craggy mountains while searching for prey. Their fire breath is hot enough to melt rock and create cavernous lairs in the sides of high mountain peaks, where they can rest, lay eggs and survey their territory. They are particularly fond of places with recent volcanic or geothermal activity. Charizard possess an extremely proud and honorable nature and love to test their might against powerful opponents. They won't use the full force of its flame on foes they deem weaker than themselves and will often disobey trainers that don't live up to their standards making them somewhat challenging Pokémon to train. Charizard is one of the most well-known and iconic Pokémon, only surpassed by series mascot Pikachu. Charizard is playable in Super Smash Bros. since Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Vulpix		A six-tailed fox Pokémon based on a kitsune. When first born, Vulpix has a single, white tail that splits from the tip, gains color and curls as it ages. This Pokémon's lustrous fur and curly tails make it popular and sought after as a pet and the better one's cared for the more beautiful its fur becomes. Inside its belly, a fire that never goes out powers it's fire type attacks and it can freely manipulate balls of fire with the move Will-O-Wisp in order to help it catch prey. When Vulpix's body becomes too hot, they release excess heat by belching white hot flames into the sky. Because these flames resemble ghostly spirits and because Vulpix are sometimes sighted near graveyards, some people associate Vulpix with the spirits of the dead.
Ninetales		A nine-tailed fox Pokémon that evolves from Vulpix via a Fire Stone. Very intelligent, it can live to be 1,000 years old. A popular legend states that the first Ninetales was born when nine noble saints had their souls joined together and reincarnated as this Pokémon. It is also able to learn Ghost type moves such as Grudge and Confuse Ray.
Growlithe		A puppy Pokémon based on a komainu. Very brave and loyal, Growlithe will bark and bite to defend its trainer or territory from any perceived threats, even standing up to Pokémon many times their size if they must. They possess a powerful olfactory sense lets them read the emotions of other living creatures to determine if they are friend or foe and they never forget a scent they have previously smelled. Often found in grasslands, wild Growlithe must be fierce in order to defend their territory from packs of wild Houndour and Rockruff. Growlithe and other Dog Pokémon like Herdier and Rockruff are speculated to have been some of the first Pokémon to form close bonds with humans, as skeletons of them have been found in excavations of ancient ruins dating back to the Pokémon World's Stone Age. In Pokémon Red and Blue and Pokémon Gold and Silver, Growlithe is the version exclusive counterpart to Vulpix and only found in the Red/Gold Version.
Arcanine		A dog-like Pokémon that is described in Chinese legends. It evolves from Growlithe via a Fire Stone. Arcanine is a very fast Pokémon that can learn ExtremeSpeed.
Ponyta		A fire horse Pokémon that has the ability, Flash Fire. It allows Ponyta to power up when hit by a Fire type move. When first born, Ponyta's legs are weak and it can barely stand. By chasing after it's parents, it's legs grow more powerful and it's hooves become ten times harder than diamond.
Rapidash		A fire unicorn Pokémon that evolves from Ponyta at level 40. After evolving, its developed horn becomes a useful weapon, piercing foes with a powerful Horn Drill. Rapidash's flaming mane makes it difficult for people and most predators to approach it, however, if someone manages to gain its trust, it's flames will no longer burn them and Rapidash will let that person ride on their back.
Magmar		A peculiar kaiju Pokémon with a reptilian body and birdlike beak resembling the fabled Karura. Magmar live in active volcanoes, drinking and bathing in magma to power their flaming bodies. In battle, the heat from this Pokémon's body can create mirages in order to confuse opponents before it closes in with a flaming Fire Punch. Sometimes when enraged, Magmar have been known descend from the mountains to rampage, their flaming breath hot enough to cause wildfires and burn villages to cinders. Because of this, in regions with active volcanoes, humans often leave offerings for the volcano's Magmar in order to keep them calm. Magmar's flames burn hotter than most non-legendary fire type Pokémon, which has long made them popular as companions of blacksmiths and metal workers as a cheaper alternative to a forge.
Flareon		A fox Pokémon and one of the many possible evolutions of the Pokémon Eevee. It evolves when Eevee is exposed to the energy of a Fire Stone. It uses it's fluffy mane and tail to release excess body heat and prevent itself from overheating. Flareon powers up when hit with a Fire type move due to its ability, Flash Fire.
Moltres		A crane Pokémon based on the mythical phoenix and one of the three Legendary Birds. This rare and powerful Pokémon is a Legendary and as such is seldom seen by humans. It embodies the western winds and the season of spring. As it migrates around the world, it heats up the surrounding atmosphere with every flap of its burning wings, bringing an early spring to regions where it flies. When injured, it heals itself by immersing its body in the lava of a volcano. Like the other Legendary Birds, Moltres is led by the God of the Sea, Lugia, who has to power to command Moltres and quell any fights between the three. Moltres can be found by completing the dungeons, Victory Road in Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow and Mt. Ember in FireRed and LeafGreen.
Cyndaquil		A hedgehog-like Pokémon based on the hinezumi or fire rat. When angry or threatened intense flames erupt from it's back. It curls up, and becomes a rolling ball of fire using the move, Flame Wheel. Cyndaquil is the Fire-type First partner Pokémon of the Johto region and also in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Quilava		A weasel Pokémon that evolves from Cyndaquil at level 14. It's fur isn't flammable so it can be stroked unless its fire is inside it.
Typhlosion		A badger Pokémon that evolves from Quilava at level 36. A very strong and powerful Fire type Pokémon. It can use flaming powers such as making volcanoes erupt and can learn the powerful Fire Blast.
Slugma		A fire slug Pokémon with a body made out of magma. It lives underground in the Earth's mantle but is sometimes ejected to the surface by volcanic eruptions and is a common sight near active volcanoes. Slugma are constantly on the move and only sleep if immersed in magma, because if it stops moving its body will cool down and turn to stone, immobilizing it and leaving it easy prey for another Pokémon.
Magcargo		A Fire snail Pokémon that evolves from Slugma at level 38. Its stone shell is formed from parts of its magma body that have cooled and hardened and often chips off in battle, however Magcargo can regain lost mass by drinking lava. Magcargo's body is so hot that, when it rains, the water droplets turn to steam on contact with its skin and create a dense fog. Normally found in and around active volcanic craters, Magcargo's population sometimes migrate in large numbers into the lowland, if it does this, an eruption is IMMINENT.
Houndour		A dark dog that is Fire/Dark type. Nocturnal hunters, packs of wild Houndour prey upon Pokémon that fail to reach their den before nightfall. They communicate with one another using a complex "language" of howls, barks, growls and roars that lets them function as a team even in pitch darkness. At dusk and dawn the Houndour pack howls in unison to signal the start and end of the hunt.
Houndoom		A demon-like dog that evolves from Houndour at level 24. It can terribly burn you with its powerful Fire Blast. It is a flaming dog that can leave you into ashes.
Magby		The baby form of Magmar. With a body temperature of 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit, this timid Pokémon lives in active volcanoes, where it eats and bathes in magma to stay healthy. When it inhales or exhales, glowing embers fly from its mouth and nostrils. One can tell how healthy a Magby is by the color of its flame; if it's yellow Magby is in good health but it it's got black smoke, it's feeling sick. Magby evolves into Magmar at level 30.
Entei		A Fire type legendary Pokémon that is described to have been from a Flareon. It resembles a lion. It is one of the most powerful Fire type Pokémon due to being a legendary Pokémon. One of the Legendary beasts.
Ho-Oh		Mascot of Pokémon Gold and its remake. A Legendary bird Pokémon based on a Fènghuáng, that can be found in the Brass Tower as described in legends. It is worshiped by the people of the Johto region and is the only known Pokémon to learn Sacred Fire. First Second Pokémon generation and Legendary Pokémon to appear in the anime, in case the first episode. Master of the Legendary beasts.
Torchic		A little chick Pokémon and the fire-type first partner of Hoenn. It can spew flaming hot fireballs and can leave its foes burning badly.
Combusken		A young fowl Pokémon. It has the developed Fighting type and can learn Double Kick at Level 16 when Torchic evolves into this Pokémon. It has developed arms and hands with claws on them.
Blaziken		A bird-man Pokémon, based on a Garuda, as well as a Japanese Shamo chicken. It possesses a courageous nature. When it senses a powerful foe, intense flames shoot from its wrist and ankles, giving it blazing punches and kicks. Its powerful legs are able to leap a 30-story building in a single bound.
Numel		A camel Pokémon that lives near volcanoes. It stores boiling magma in the hump on it's back. If it gets wet, the magma cools and hardens slowing it's movement.
Camerupt		A Camel Pokémon that can learn the powerful Eruption move and unlike Numel, it has 2 humps and it changed into the orange color.
Torkoal		A tortoise Pokémon that has a hole in its shell. This hole stores fire which is powered by coal. It is also the only known Pokémon to have the ability, White Smoke.
Chimchar		It is one of the first partner Pokémon of Sinnoh. A Pokémon that resembles a monkey. It's fire on its tail goes out when it is sleeping.
Monferno		A monkey Pokémon that has the developed Fighting type. It evolves from Chimchar at level 14. It can mainly do everything that Chimchar does, but it can also use fighting skills.
Infernape		A monkey Pokémon based on the monkey king, Sun Wukong or Son Goku, from the Chinese novel Journey to the West. It evolves from Monferno at level 36. Very fast, it that excels at martial arts using all four limbs and can also ignite its body parts for further damage. It has flames coming out from its head which replace the once flaming tail that it had as its former evolutions.
Magmortar		A fire type Pokémon. It is one of the few Pokémon that evolve via trading while holding an item. The item it should hold is a Magmarizer in order to evolve.
Heatran		The Legendary fire type Pokémon of Sinnoh. It is the only known Pokémon to know Magma Storm and it can cause huge volcano eruptions and burn up a whole city.
Victini		A fairy-like Mythical Pokémon based on the Greek goddess of victory Nike. Victini's burning passion generates infinite energy inside its body and it will share that energy with anyone it touches, boosting their physical abilities. They say that someone blessed by Victini is destined to win any encounter regardless of any disadvantages they may have. It is the only known Pokémon to learn the moves Searing Shot and V-Create and is also the only known Pokémon to have the ability Victory Star.
Tepig		A pig Pokémon and the Fire first partner of the Unova region and in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It breathes smoke when weak.
Pignite		Evolves from Tepig at level 17. It now has Fighting abilities.
Emboar		A humanoid boar Pokémon based on Zhu Baijie from the Chinese novel Journey to the West. Evolves from Pignite at level 36. Emboar uses it's flaming beard to ignite the fur on its hands and deliver flaming punches. It is an extremely loyal Pokémon that always fights for the sake of its friends.
Pansear		A Pokémon based on Kikazaru, the Hear No Evil monkey. The flame-like hair on it's head can reach temperatures of 600 degrees Fahrenheit. It uses it's hair to roast berries before eating them.
Simisear		Evolves from Pansear via a Fire Stone.
Darumaka		An ape Pokémon based on a Daruma doll. It tucks it's arms into it's body and sleeps without falling over.
Darmanitan		Evolves from Darumaka. It has a special alternate based on its hidden ability
Litwick		A haunted candle Pokémon, based on an Onibi or Will-O-Wisp. The blue flame is this Pokémon's true body. It feeds by absorbing the soul energy of other living creatures and as it does the flame on its head burns brighter. They appear at night and attempt to mislead travelers.
Lampent		A haunted lantern or streetlamp Pokémon that evolves from Litwick at level 41. Lampent feed on the souls of dead and dying humans. If wild Lampent sense that someone is in imminent danger they will silently trail that person waiting for them to pass on. They are common sights around hospitals at night.
Chandelure		Evolves from Lampent.
Heatmor		A rare fire anteater. Its favorite meal is Durant.
Larvesta		A larva that shoots fire from its horns.
Volcarona		Evolves from Larvesta. It is one of the strongest fire types in Unova beside Reshiram. It is described in Greek mythology.
Reshiram		Reshiram is the only know pokémon which is both from the fire and dragon types. Reshiram is spoken in legends across Unova as the being of truth sleeping in the light stone waiting for the hero of legend. It is also the only known Pokémon to be able to learn Fusion Flare (Other than an event Victini, alongside White Kyurem) and Blue Flare and is also the only Pokémon to have the ability Turboblaze. Mascot of Pokémon Black. Kyurem fuses with Reshiram to become White Kyurem.
Fennekin		A fennec fox Pokémon, possibly based on a Kuda-gitsune. It is the Fire-type first partner of the Kalos region. This tiny fox chews on twigs and converts them into fuel for fire inside it's stomach, like a small furnace. Excess heat is released from its large ears.
Braixen		A bipedal fennec fox Pokémon, with traits of an apprentice witch or wizard. It evolves from Fennekin at level 16. Soon after evolving, Braixen begins using tree branches as a magic wand to channel it's latent Psychic powers, a rare example of tool use in a Pokémon. Using the friction from its tail fur to light the branch, Braixen manipulates the shape of its flame, bending and twisting it into fantastic shapes in order to communicate with others of its kind. Braixen are especially fond of wands that burn with pleasant aromas like cinnamon or incense.
Delphox		Evolves from Braixen at level 36, Delphox is based on the magic user or mage class from fantasy RPGs. It's fur strongly resembles the garb worn by witches and wizards since ancient times in the Kalos region. By staring intently at the fire on tip of their wands, Delphox can enter a focused state that allows them to see into the future, predicting the actions of their opponent in battle, through the movement of the flames. Known as pyromancy, Delphox may have taught humans how to perform this technique in ancient times.
Fletchinder		A robin Pokémon, with traits of a waxwing. Evolves from Fletchling at level 17. A flame sac within its belly powers it's wing muscles allowing it to flap at top speed, continuously without getting tired. However, when it does rest, the flame sac can go out and take several minutes to reignite. It expels embers from its beak to ignite tall grass and create brush fires, scaring Bug-type Pokémon into the open where they are quickly gobbled up.
Talonflame		A peregrine falcon Pokémon that evolves from Fletchinder at level 35. It is one of the fastest fire type Pokémon in existance.
Litleo		A lion cub Pokémon. When first born, they live in prides, watched over by Pyroar, but once they learn how to hunt on their own, they're chased away and must find their way in the world, alone. Litleo is a highly competitive Pokémon, that loves to test its strength against others. When facing a strong opponent, the orange tuft of mane on its head surges with intense heat and flames.
Pyroar		A lion Pokémon that evolves from Litleo. This social Pokémon lives in prides where the females hunt, and the males protect the pride from enemy Pokémon. When angry it's mane and breath can burn at 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit. They never use their fire powers when hunting, however, as they prefer the taste of raw meat.
Volcanion		It lets out billows of steam and disappears into the dense fog. It's said to live in mountains where humans do not tread.
Litten		A black cat Pokémon and the Fire First partner Pokémon in the Alola region. The markings on Litten's forehead resemble the alchemical symbol for sulfur. It secretes a highly flammable oil from its skin. When it grooms itself, this oil collects in its stomach along with loose hair and becomes ammo for the flaming hairballs it launches when threatened. Litten is a secretive Pokémon that prefers solitude and takes a long time to warm up to its trainer.
Torracat		Torracat will let its Trainer coddle it once they’ve grown close, but it’s a powerful, sharp-clawed Pokémon, so its Trainer gets covered in scratches.
Incineroar		Although it's rough mannered and egotistical, it finds beating down unworthy opponents boring. It gets motivated for stronger opponents. Playable in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Salandit		It burns its bodily fluids to create a poisonous gas. When its enemies become disoriented from inhaling the gas, it attacks them.
Salazzle		A lizard Pokémon based on the shapeshifting Hawaiian Mo'o. All Salazzle currently known are female. They emit a pheromone laden gas and use seductive movements to control the minds of male Salandit, causing them to become infatuated servants. The stronger the Salazzle, the bigger her harem. Some Salazzle have been known to control males of other Pokémon species and even male humans. Their pheromones have recently become popular for use in women's perfume.
Turtonator		The shell on its back is chemically unstable and explodes violently if struck. The hole in its stomach is its weak point.
Blacephalon		An extradimensional Pokémon, or Ultra Beast that arrived on earth via a wormhole known as UB Burst. It is based on a jester, with traits of a dullahan and fireworks. Blacephalon distracts opponents with its prancing movement and bizarre dancing before detonating its fireworks filled head. It then uses its long arms to drain its injured foe's vitality or life force. Only Ultra Beast to have a signature move, Mind Blown.
Scorbunny		A rabbit Pokémon. The yellow pads on its feet and nose create sparks when any type of friction it applied to them. When threatened, it runs about excitedly and rubs its feet on the ground, lighting its feet and the ground beneath it on fire, then it attacks with flaming kicks. First partner Pokémon of Galar.
Raboot		Its thick and fluffy fur protects it from the cold and enables it to use hotter fire moves.
Cinderace		It juggles a pebble with its feet, turning it into a burning soccer ball. Its shots strike opponents hard and leave them scorched. Has a Gigantamax form.
Carkol		It forms coal inside its body. Coal dropped by this Pokémon once helped fuel the lives of people in the Galar region.
Coalossal		Has a Gigantamax form
Sizzlipede		It stores flammable gas in its body and uses it to generate heat. The yellow sections on its belly get particularly hot.
Centiskorch		Has a Gigantamax form

Crocalor		The valve in Crocalor's flame sac is closely connected to its vocal cords. This Pokémon utters a guttural cry as it spews flames every which way.
Skeledirge		The fiery bird changes shape when Skeledirge sings. Rumor has it that the bird was born when the fireball on Skeledirge’s head gained a soul.
Charcadet		A fire spirit Pokémon, based on an Ifrit. Charcadet are wandering spirits that have bonded with pieces of burnt charcoal and come to life. It consumes anything flammable, but loves things rich in oils, fats and tallow, such as certain kinds of berries and meats. Charcadet freely manipulates fire, forming it into fireballs in its hands.
Armarouge		Armarouge evolved through the use of a set of armor that belonged to a distinguished warrior. This Pokémon is incredibly loyal.
Ceruledge		An old set of armor steeped in grudges caused this Pokémon's evolution. Ceruledge cuts its enemies to pieces without mercy.
Scovillain		A chili pepper Pokémon that resembles a two headed dragon.
Iron Moth		A Paradox Pokémon from the future. Iron Moth is a robotic Volcarona, said to have been built as a spy drone by an alien people. They sometimes descend from the sky and attack people who linger in Area Zero. Its six wings function as anti-gravity devices and can also absorb sunlight, converting it into lasers of condensed heat.

Mega Charizard X		One of the two Mega Evolutions of Charizard. Mega Evolution has awakened the latent Dragon type genes in Charizard's body. Arcane blue fire billows uncontrollably from the sides of its mouth and its body has turned black from the heat within. Mega Charizard X is specialized in physical combat with prickly armored scales and powerful claws and bite. Appears in Charizard's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
Mega Charizard Y		One of the two Mega Evolutions of Charizard. This form is specialized in speed and agility. The fins along it's body give it greater maneuverability in the air. With a streamlined body, it can outpace even the most advanced fighter jets.
Arcanine Hisui Form		A dog Pokémon based on a komainu. Growlithe in the Hisui region are wilder in nature and are more difficult to tame, possibly indicating that they are of a more ancient lineage, closer to Rockruff than their Kanto counterparts. Its stocky body and thick fur help keep it warm in the snowy Hisui region and the grey fur on its head, mane and tail is as hard as rock, providing defense against the teeth and claws of enemy Pokémon.
Arcanine Hisui Form		Snaps at its foes with fangs cloaked in blazing flame. Despite its bulk, it deftly feints every which way, leading opponents on a deceptively merry chase as it all but dances around them.
Marowak Alola Form		A reptilian Pokémon that wears the bones of its ancestors as body armor. Marowak in the Alola Region practice a form of shamanism, dancing and twirling their bone batons to summon the spirits of their dead ancestors to aid them in battle.
Tauros Paldea Form Blaze Breed		When heated by fire energy, its horns can get hotter than 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit. Those gored by them will suffer both wounds and burns.
Typhlosion Hisui Form		Said to purify lost, forsaken souls with its flames and guide them to the afterlife. I believe its form has been influenced by the energy of the sacred mountain towering at Hisui's center.
Mega Houndoom		The Mega Evolution of Houndoom. Growing larger, the bones on its body have developed into defensive armor and its long legs make it a speedy guardian of the underworld. The "hellfire" produced in Houndoom's body is even hotter than before, soaring to temperatures so great that its claws and tail have started to melt, causing it pain. Because of this, it can only remain in this form for a short time.
Mega Blaziken		Boiling-hot blood courses through its entire body, doubling the sharpness of its moves. It subdues opponents in the blink of an eye.
Mega Camerupt		When this Pokémon's rage reaches a boiling point, the huge volcano in the hump on its back erupts violently, spewing molten lava.
Castform Sunny Form		A teru teru bozu Pokémon that can change its body shape with the weather. Castform becomes Sunny Form when it absorbs the sun's rays during harsh sunlight, trapping heat within its orange head. Using the move Weather Ball, it can fire this condensed heat in the form of burning spheres. The orange part of its body is unexpectedly hot so trainers must excise caution if trying to pet this Pokémon. In a scientific experiment, placing a Castform in front of a heater did not change its form, only sunlight is currently known to work.
Primal Groudon		A titanic Legendary Pokémon that resembles a gila monster. Based on the Behemoth, this Pokémon is part of the Super-ancient Pokémon alongside Kyogre and Rayquaza. Regarded as a deity of earth, it possesses power over tectonic forces, raising mountains and volcanoes with every stomp and roar. By controlling heat, and increasing the power of the sun, it can even evaporate entire seas, turning them into deserts. It created the continents in ancient times and feuds with Kyogre over how much land exists in the world.
Heat Rotom		A poltergeist Pokémon that can possess and control electric appliances. In this form Rotom has gone inside a microwave to turn into Heat Rotom. The only Fire type move it can learn though is Overheat making it the only known Pokémon that cant learn Flamethrower or Fire Blast
Mega Heatran		It's said that if it goes all out, it can heat its body up to temperatures over 1.8 million degrees Fahrenheit. This heat keeps enemies at bay.
Mega Emboar		Brandishing a blazing flame shaped like a serpentine spear, it rushes in to rescue its imperiled allies.
Darmanitan Zen Mode		Through meditation, it calms its raging spirit and hones its psychic powers.
Darmanitan Galar Form		On days when blizzards blow through, it comes down to where people live. It stashes food in the snowball on its head, taking it home for later.
Darmanitan Galar Form Zen Mode		Darmanitan takes this form when enraged. It won't stop spewing flames until its rage has settled, even if its body starts to melt.
Mega Chandelure		One of its eyes is a window linking our world with the afterlife. This Pokémon draws in hatred and converts it into power.
Mega Delphox		It wields flaming branches to dazzle its opponents before incinerating them with a huge fireball.
