Nintendo Software Technology Corporation or NST is a Redmond-based first party developer for Nintendo. NST was created to specifically create titles for Nintendo systems catered to the North American market, though the games are also released in Europe and Japan. NST has developed many great games for Nintendo consoles such as Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Wave Race: Blue Storm, and Metroid Prime Hunters. Nintendo Software Technology is located at the DigiPen Institute near the Nintendo of America headquarters in Redmond, Washington, USA. The current president is Tim Bechtel.
History
Nintendo Software Technology was started sometime in the late 90's by Claude Comair (DigiPen president) and Nintendo, though in 2006 Claude would retire. Many of the employees that work at Nintendo Software Technology are graduates of the DigiPen Institute of Technology, where the company is located (along with Nintendo of America's warehouse). The first game they created was Bionic Commando: Elite Forces for the Game Boy Color, though they would go on to create new games for Nintendo franchises such as Pokémon, Mario, and Metroid.
Since 2018, the company has been working on ports of the mainline 3D Super Mario games, as well as remaking the original Mario vs. Donkey Kong game, for the Nintendo Switch.
