Mable (JP) is one of the five Team Flare scientists in Pokémon X and Y. She later returns in Pokémon Legends: Z-A as the acting director of the Pokémon Research Lab in Lumiose City.

Appearance and Personality

In her initial appearance, she is a blue-haired woman with a gray visor over her eyes and blue lipstick. Her hair is styled in loops at the side of her head. Her team uniform is orange with a frilled skirt and a blue tie under her vest. Her belt has the Team Flare icon and she wears shorts under her skirt and tall boots.

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, she returns as a professor-like role. Her visor has been replaced with visor glasses and her hair loops have become a set of ponytails resting on her shoulders. She wears a a black dress patterned with simplified Pokéball designs and connecting lines underneath her lab coat. She wears blue & white pumps. She has a white Rotom Phone.

History

Mable is one of the recurring trainers fought as a part of Team Flare in Pokemon X and Y. She is a part of the team of scientists. She is first seen in Frost Cavern, agitating an Abomasnow. The player defeats her and the Team Flare grunts with the help of Trevor. The player later fights her in Lysandre Labs to get the Elevator Key to the lower levels.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

After the events of X and Y, Mable is arrested alongside the rest of Team Flare. As a part of the plea deal, she is installed as the acting director of the Pokémon Research Lab after Professor Sycamore resigned. As a part of the plea deal, she is not allowed to leave Lumiose City and cannot travel freely. Prior to the start of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, she is tasked with investigating the sudden rise in wild Pokémon as a part of the redevelopment plan and assists with the creation of the Wild Zones. She seeks various trainers help through the Pokédex app and creates an incentive program to reward trainers with TMs and Candies for completing research tasks.

Mable later assists the player when they are trying to uncover the identity of Gris for the Z-A Royale. The player presses her on her connections to Team Flare where she reveals her backstory and tells the player about Grisham, who was a part of the next generation of Team Flare that was ended with the organization arrested. She eventually directs them to the Nouveau Café in Centrico Plaza.

After the ending of the game, Mable is involved with giving the player information about certain Legendary Pokémon. She is first contacted as a part the postgame quest - The One Who Gives. In this quest, she tasks the player with investigating certain Wild Zones with unusual Alpha Pokémon. After the player defeats 3 of them, she directs the player to Wild Zone 11 where the player finds Xerneas. After catching Xerneas, Mable meets with the player in the Wild Zone thanking them for taking care of the Legendary Pokémon and explaining how many Team Flare grunts where originally used to capture them for Team Flare. She calls the player in the side quest - Project M upon starting the quest in Lysandre Labs, emphasizing that Mewtwo needs to be caught at all costs. Once caught, she appears on the Holo Caster explaining that the team of Flare scientists had original caught this Mewtwo as a backup if the main plan went awry.

In the Mega-Dimension expansion, her first appearance is after Team MZ returns to Hotel Z after exploring Hyperspace for the first time. She appears via Holo Caster and informs the player of the Hyperspace Pokédex. and new research tasks. After the player caches both Kyogre and Groudon, Mable is contacted to explain that the combination of Mega Power and Darkrai's dream power merged to create Hyperspace and the alternate Lumiose created from the subconscious and dreams. To summon Rayquaza, she simplifies her answer to that "Ansha needs to wish really hard" for the confused Corbeau.
