Propeller Blocks are navy blue blocks with yellow propellers on them, which appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Propeller Blocks act very similarly to Propeller Mushrooms, though unlike Propeller Mushrooms, the player can keep the ability after they get hurt, but can not go into Warp Pipes with it. The player uses it by picking it up, and then shaking the Wii Remote to fly. They are usually found in foggy areas, or places where hidden platforms or Coins are hidden. The block can be found at least once in every world, except World 1, including the first Bowser Jr. fight.

Trading Card Description: "Grab these little blue boxes wherever you see them. The Propeller Block power-up will give you the ability to float up in the air for a while and avoid enemy trouble below. It's also handy for collecting items in the sky. Keep a sharp lookout for Propeller Blocks in foggy areas."

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games

In the Golf and Golf Plus games in the Nintendo 3DS version Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, if the player hits the ball out of bounds, it will turn into a propeller block and fly back to it's previous location.
